Review: Rushing into Love by Ashelyn Drake

*Received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

Synopsis:
As a college junior, Mindy Stanton has no interest in dating a freshman.

That is until Ben Whitmore shows up and serenades his way into her heart at the dorm social she’s running. And after hearing him sing, even Mindy can’t deny that he has a deep, sexy voice that makes her melt.

Even though Mindy makes it clear that she doesn’t date younger guys, Ben pursues her anyway. After all, he doesn’t seem like the typical college freshman, who is only interested in hooking up, partying until he can’t remember his name, or joining a frat. He’s a gentleman, a romantic, and definitely knows all the right things to say to sweep a girl off her feet.

So Mindy drops her guard. She allows herself to fall for him. Before she knows it, Ben is all she can think about. To her, he’s perfect.

But it doesn’t take Mindy long to discover that even the most perfect guys…

Have secrets.

My Review

Everyone is in love. Everyone has someone, well except for Mindy that is. All Mindy has is her best friend Mike and what she wouldn't give to have what others have, what Noelle and Julia have. To find that one person that makes her body zing and her heart soar. And then it happened. One simple song. One single kiss. Now Mindy is rethinking all her dating rules. But she is afraid of getting her heart broken, afraid to play the field and it takes a not so gentle push for her to act on the feelings that make her toes curl.

Doubt plagues her mind. Will Ben hurt her? What is he hiding? Does he feel the same? Is he worth it? Is love worth it?

I have to say that it was about time that Mindy got to have her chance at love. I love Mindy as a character. She is that sweet, girl next door, that you can always count on. You could think of her as the mother hen. Wise in her wisdom and always on watch, after all it is part of her job as the RA. But Mindy has always been on the outside looking in and I have to say that part of me hoped she was going to end up with Mike. Mike is a good guy, almost like Mindy's other half. Well except for the fact that he is a tail chasing dog. But deep down I think he loves Mindy. He has her best interests at heart, plus he has a wonderful sense of humor.

Of all the books in the Campus Crush Series, Rushing into Love is by far my favorite. Mindy's worry and struggle to move on after her first broken heart is so real that it made me want to crawl into the book, hold her hand and give her advice. I wanted to tell her that sometimes you just had to leave things in the past and move on in order to truly heal. That maybe Ben was her second chance.

And I instantly loved Ben too. He was so romantic and incredibly sweet. I want to make him the poster child for awesome guys. I want to tell all my high school students that this is what a real guy should look and act like.

Rushing into Love is one of those books that helps you believe that there really are good guys left in the world. It helps you believe in love. Yea, it is a whirlwind romance, but so what. The characters are fun and easy to understand and imagine. Almost like old friends. Rushing into Love is an enchanting story that will make you go, "Awww," make your jaw drop and there might be a little steam in there too.

"I promise. I'm here. I'm yours." (kindle, loc. 1281)

Okay so I chose this moment because I am a complete sap and it makes me go "Awww." Don't judge me, cause you will too.
